چکیده
Worldwide, head and neck carcinomas represent the seventh most common cancer, with known risk factors such as alcohol consumption, use of various tobacco-based products, infection high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV). Association HPV has already been proven to an indicator a better outcome for patients oropharyngeal squamous cell (SCC) only. This paper aimed highlight prognostic value status in all (SCC), independent location, evaluated using both immunohistochemical (IHC) molecular techniques, assess p16 marker (clone 16P04, JC2) predicting HPV. In this paper, 114 consecutive SCC cases were included. The association these was based on IHC expression PCR-based determination HR-HPV, according indications 8th edition American Joint Commission Cancer inconclusive or equivocal p16. There 20 females 94 males ages ranging from 32 86 years old. Most tumors negative (88.60%) there no statistically significant differences between age (p=0.5714), gender (p=0.6973), pT stage (p=0.5452). Kaplan-Meyer curves revealed difference overall survival (OS) positive versus (p=0.0472), independently their location. Although well-proved impact SCC, should be because it seems predictor, location stage. When is equivocal, established by determination.

Prognostic Significance of MMP2 and MMP9 Functional Promoter Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Objective(s) Matrix metalloproteinases comprise a family of enzyme that is able to degrade components of extra cellular matrix. There are single nucleotide polymorphisms in the promoter regions of several genes with ability to influence cancer susceptibility. The aim of this study was to analyses association between MMP2 and MMP9 promoter polymorphisms and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma...

متن کاملBiomarkers of HPV in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is an accepted cause of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), and patients with HPV-associated HNSCC have a favorable prognosis. Currently, there is no general guidance on the most appropriate biomarkers for clinical assessment of HPV in these malignancies. We compared PCR-based and serologic HPV assays, as well as p16 immunohistochemistry, individually and i...
متن کاملPrognostic and Therapeutic Potential of Nuclear Receptors in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinomas
Head and neck squamous cell carcinomas are among the most common neoplasms worldwide and characterized by local tumor aggressiveness, high rate of early recurrences, development of metastasis, and second primary cancers. Despite modern therapeutic strategies and sophisticated surgical management, overall survival-rates remained largely unchanged over the last decades. Thus, the need for novel t...

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is well established as an etiological agent responsible for a number of pathologies affecting the stratified epithelia of skin and anogenital sites. More recently, the infection by (mucosal) high-risk HPV types has also been found to be causally associated with squamous cell carcinoma in the head and neck region (HNSCC), especially in the oropharynx. Intrigu...
